From the article: Where to see Portland Concerts
Is it the decor, the sound system, the layout of the venue? What makes a venue great or forgettable?
Basics
- Good ability to see and hear the performers is essential--most large concert venues, arenas, stadiums don't have the basics.

What makes a great concert venue
- The first thing I look for is how well the place is insolated and what the acustics sound like. Second I like to see how close or far away the stage is from the seating area, I REFUSE to watch concerts from a birds eye view. Third but probably most important, talk to the sound board mixer to see if that person knows what they are doing or not. The best equipment in the world won't make up for a bad engineer.
