When: The 2009 Portland Marathon is on October 4

Where: The Marathon and Marathon Walk begin and end at charming Chapman/Lownsdale/Schrunk Parks in downtown Portland. The starting line is on SW Salmon at SW 3rd.

Route: The course takes you all over the city, through Old Town, through various residential neighborhoods, along the waterfront and over the the St. Johns Bridge, one of the most beautiful suspension bridges in the world.

Events: In addition to the Marathon and Marathon Walk, there's also a 2-mile kids run, a 5-mile run, a 10k Mayor's Walk, a Nordic Walk, and a racewalking competition

Registration: Register online at the Portland Marathon website.

Volunteering opportunities: The Portland Marathon needs lots of volunteers every year. Help the race happen in 2009! Visit the volunteering web page.
