Portland in springtime: what's not to like? Many of this month's events—such as the MS Walk and the Tulip Festival—will get you outside. Now go!

1. Spring Beer and Wine Festival

April 6 + 7, Oregon Convention Center

Spend an afternoon sipping, comparing, and finding your favorite local flavors. Remember, the MAX goes right by the Convention Center, so leave the car keys at home.

2. Jonathan Lethem

April 12, Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall

Literary Arts presents an evening with author Jonathan Lethem, who wrote Motherless Brooklyn and most recently, The Fortress of Solitude.

3. MS Walk

April 14, Pioneer Courthouse Square

Raise awareness and money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Show your support by volunteering or walking in the 5k event.

4. Romeo and Juliet

March 30 – April 15, Northwest Children's Theater

Bring the family to this production of the Shakespeare classic.

5. Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival

Through April 22, Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn, OR

Tiptoeing isn't required, but please: no stomping! Visiting these amazing fields of tulips is a spring rite of passage for Oregonians.

6. Earth Day 2007

April 21, Woodlawn Park in NE Portland

Celebrate sustainable living. Visit booths from local businesses, check out three stages of solar-powered entertainment, and let the kids learn and play at the Kids' Village.

7. Movie Night at Hotel Deluxe

April 22, Hotel deLuxe
Movie starts at 6:30

The first event in a new monthly movie series, Hotel deluxe is showing “Painted Life,” by Portland filmmaker and Comic Book Artist Jacob Pander.

8. Japanese Garden Annual Plant Sale

April 28, Japanese Gardens

See and buy plants from more than twenty local nurseries. Plan to spend some time in the garden before you shop.

9. Celebrate Crawfish

April 29, Roux Restaurant

Roux Restaurant is throwing a Crawfish Party! Street Party. The party will include crawfish and po'boys, as well as live jazz music. Beverages will be sold separately. Tickets can be reserved by calling between the hours of noon and 4:00 p.m. daily.

10. Taste of the Nation

April 30, Oregon Convention Center

Don't eat all day, then come to Taste of the Nation to sample flavors from the city's best restaurants. This benefit raises money for the hunger-fighting organization, Share Our Strength.
