Filmmaker: Miae Kim
Miae Kim is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has been aired locally, nationally, and internationally. Her film Pyeongtaek is a documentary blends news footage, photographs, and interviews to tell the story of South Korean farm villages are being destroyed for the expansion of the U.S. military base, threatening the villagers safety, livelihood, and freedom. Supporters from across Korea and the world have come to the villagers side. As plans for the bases expansion continue, armed police escort demolition crews to tear down the villagers houses, the remaining residents, many elderly farmers, wonder what will happen next when they will be forced off their land.
