St Patrick's Day is coming up, and various Portland venues have events ranging from a fun golf tournament at Edgefield, to the traditional -- and growing -- offering at the Kells downtown, to pub crawls, parades and free music shows. Here's a listing of some of the St Patrick's Day offerings that caught our eye.
PCPA Noontime Showcase: The Sons of Malarkey
What: The Portland Center for the Performing Arts brings a free noontime show to town every month. In honor of St Patrick's Day, the Sons of Malarkey mix Irish traditional with Celtic Rock.

Pots of Gold Tastings- Whole Foods Hollywood
What: Every department of the Whole Foods Hollywood grocery store will offer St Patrick's day-themed tastings, and returning from 2013's event will be Guinness floats!

Mugs 'n Hugs, Friday, Saturday & Monday Pub Crawls
What: With a tagline like "Get Shamorcked," attendees should have no delusions about what's involved here. BarCrawls.com is promoting three different pub crawls over St. Patrick's Day weekend, or those looking for a celebration/bender can buy a pass to all three. Lots of drink specials and no cover charges for the individuals pubs are the two main draws.

St Patrick's Day at the Kells
What: The Kells Irish pub in downtown Portland has become synonymous with the city's St Patrick's Day celebrations. This year the party lasts for four full days, with Irish dancing, bagpipes, a slew of bands, kid friendly events in specific venues and time slots, and plenty of libations! If you're a St Patrick's Day fan, include a stop at the Kells, and get there early.

Murphy's St Patrick's Day Parade & Party
What: Murphy's Furniture's annual St. Patrick's Day celebration returns to Hillsboro, Oregon -- just west of Portland. Want to join in on the parade? The $20 entry fee supports the Hillsboro Boys and Girls Club.

Lepre-Con Pub Crawl 2014
What: Get dressed up for St Patty's day and hit some of downtown Portland's best Irish-themed celebrations -- including the Paddy's and the Kells, both of which will feature outdoor tent parties, bagpipes, live music and dancing.

Sellwood-Moreland St. Patrick's Day Festival and Parade
What: Fifteen years ago, the children of St. Agatha's Catholic school started a small parade to commemorate St. Patrick's Day. Since then it has evolved and grown into a huge shindig with a parade down the main streets of the Sellwood/Moreland neighborhoods, performances and a carnival running during the day, and a food and beer garden that welcomes hundreds of visitors into the night. It's an all ages event, with a beer garden for the 21+ crowd. Kick off the day in a healthy way with 5k fun runs at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

St. Patrick's Day Celebration at McMenamins Kennedy School
What: This all day, free affair celebrates St Patrick's Day in style in Northeast Portland. Acts include The Twangshifters River City Pipe Band, Kathryn Claire, Irish Family Hooley with the Murray Irish Dancers Music kicks off at noon and it's an all ages celebration. There will be specials on Irish food, stout and Irish coffees.

St. Patty's Day Weekend Party at East Burn
What: Traditional foods -- such as corned beef and colconnon -- will be served to celebrate the weekend, alongside plenty of Guinness and other libations. Whiskey's Lament will be the musical entertainment on Friday night and again on Monday, and the Israelites and DJ Kenny will take over on Saturday night. Ages 21+
Where: East Burn, 1800 E Burnside Street
Price: Free admission
What: A whopping 35,000 people are expected to line up at Waterfront Park in Downtown Portland for the 36th edition of the Shamrock Run. There are 5k, 8k and 15k competitive, timed events as well as a 5k fitness walk and a 1k Leprechaun Lap for kids. Registrations are limited, and available slots are opened up in chunks by date.
Where: SW Naito Parkway and Pine Street
When: 7:40 a.m. for 15k. Other events start shortly thereafter.
St. Patrick's Day Golf Tourney at McMenamins Edgefield
What: Grab a McMenamins' beer, wine or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice and celebrate St. Patrick's Day out on the greens. Tee off at Edgefield's par 3 Pub Course for a low-stress, 20-hole individual tournament for all skill levels. Lots of prizes available.
