Taste of the Nation 2008

Friday April 18, 2008
If there's a Superbowl for foodies, it's Taste of the Nation, and it's coming up on Monday, April 28. More than 70 chefs from around Portland (and other parts of Oregon) will cook up their favorite dishes and serve them to you all night long. You get to graze as much as you like, while sipping wines and micro-brewed beers made locally. Proceeds will benefit Share Our Strength, an organization that fights poverty and childhood hunger.

When: April 28, 6:30 p.m. (V.I.P tickets get you in an hour earlier)
Where: Oregon Convention Center (777 NE MLK Blvd.)
How much: Tickets are $75 per person, $125 for V.I.P admission, $200 for tickets including a pre-event champagne reception and reserved event seating.

Get tickets online or by calling 1-877-26TASTE.

Pretty much rocked except for the food.

(with a few acceptions.)

three cheers for the wine!
three cheers for the turnout!
three cheers to the spirit of giving for getting some!
and three cheers for your liberal pours!

woo-hoo!
the drink did flow.
Every Pinot Noir from here to all over.

yum..
and shiney and new like 2001.
it’s true.

Yes, I attended too - agree on the food - and lack - duplication and poor set up of tables. Cramped and crowded around the outside and no one inside - looked like pretty good attendance 1200 or so I heard. Also - the total lack of garbage cans made the place a city dump after only an hour on the floor - the health department would have loved that. The wineries did give generous pours and that made it a great time. It’s a good cause though so who should really complain. I would like to know exactly how much each charity got - it seems like they should at least tell us how much we were able to raise for PDX. Anyone got the numbers? Please tell us so we can gloat!
