36th Portland International Film Festival

What: Oregon's biggest film festival returns for its 36th year with daily events, parties and -- of course -- films galore! International and local films will screen -- over 125 features, shorts and documentaries.
Where: PIFF tickets go on sale the end of January, and screenings will take place throughout the city.

Polar Plunge Portland at Broughton Beach

What: Take the cold water plunge and show winter who's boss. And it's Portland, so as if that weren't enough, there's a costume contest too. Portland is just one of the five Oregon locations hosting February Plunge Oregon events.

Portland Mardi Gras Ball 2013

What: Mardi Gras is, traditionally, the last chance to fatten up and let loose before Lent. These days, for most, it's an excuse for a party. Mysti Krewe of Nimbus brings its third annual Mardi Gras festival to Portland. Zydeco, Cajun and other Louisiana music will get things rolling, with bands such as Atomic Gumbo and the Too Loose Cajun Band leading the way.

What: Hillsdale's first festival devoted to wine and food pairing features more than 25 local wineries as well as musical performances.

9th Annual Valentine Fanconi Anemia Run/Walk 5K/8K/12K
Run/walk to fight and fundriase for Fanconi anemia, a "a life threatening disease that leads to bone marrow failure and cancers in children and young adults."
