Thanksgiving is the main attraction this week, so be sure to check out our Portland Thanksgiving event and food guide. Also stay on top of everything going on around town in the full November events calendar, but here are some highlights to get you started.

Oregon Turkeython 2012

Beaverton plays host to Oregon's biggest Thanksgiving family runs -- 5K, 10K and kids races are available to keep everyone entertained and burn off some of the day's feast. Rumor has it that Santa will be in the house.

West Coast Bank/ORRC Turkey Trot at the Zoo

Participants can run or walk the four-mile course, while kids can take part in the half-mile Tot Trot.

Thanksgiving in Wine Country

Willamette Valley, Oregon
Have visiting relatives, or perhaps just need to get out of the house? Well, perhaps wine tasting is more your speed than Black Friday. Thanksgiving in Wine Country is a huge event, with more than 160 wineries in the Willamette Valley open for business throughout the holiday season.

Black Friday Alternative: Little Boxes PDX 2012

Keep the post-Thanksgiving shopping extravaganza local. Little Boxes PDX makes it easy, with discounts, contests and over 150 participating local businesses encouraging you to forgo the big box stores.

Portlanders will assemble at Pioneer Square to light the 75-foot tree and count down the days to Christmas.

Chagall for Children

Portland Children's Museum
The new exhibit at the Portland Children's Museum pairs 14 of Marc Chagall's paintings with audio recordings describing the work as well as interactive elements for children age 3-10.
