Fortune magazine -- better known for ranking the rich and evaluating businesses -- just released a new ranking, for "hippest" neighborhoods in America. Ask Portlanders which neighborhood deserves the prize, and the answer might differ from Fortune's -- unless, perhaps, they knew who was in charge of the designation. While the other top 'hoods and cities were no surprise, the Pearl, while a happening hot spot, may in some ways be the antithesis of hipster in a city known for skinny jeans, ironic facial hair and bike polo.
