Free Technology Recycling

From Nancy Levenson, About.com GuideJanuary 28, 2009

So, you’re getting a new television. Where’s the old one going? If it’s in working condition, you could donate it to charity (or a lucky friend). But if its life is over, recycling is the best bet. Until now, that’s been expensive. But as of 1/1/09, you can recycle your TV and other large electronics (desktop computers, monitors, laptops and televisions) at no cost, which is a pretty sweet deal. And it beats collecting useless electronics in your basement or garage.

DEQ will allow folks to bring up to seven pieces to their new centers for free, starting Jan. 1. The TV manufacturers are paying for the state's program. Find a recycler at the Oregon E-Cycles website.
