The Baby Has a Name

The Oregon Zoo asked us to help to choose the name of its latest addition—a male elephant born in late August to mother, Rose-Tu. It was a multiple choice question, and they got plenty of input (about 17,000 votes!).

And the winning name is ... Samudra, which means "lord of the ocean in Hindi. Samudra is an appropriate name since this little one does love the water. They call the calf Sam for short.
